The “A” and the “M” in A.M. Maven stands for “Advertising” and “Marketing”. Many people use the terms as if they have the same meaning. The fact is there are differences between the two. However, due to the rapid advancements in advertising and marketing, the definitions may not be as simple as they used to be. It is important to understand how each affects your business. That’s where we come in.

Many businesses have done some sort of advertising. Some even have a marketing plan. However, if you don’t have both and execute them correctly, you are just wasting money. At A.M. Maven, we provide a full array of services to make it easy and cost affordable to do both.

Let’s start with “Advertising”. Traditionally, the basic definition of advertising is how you inform people of your product, service, or company through paid announcements. Some examples are: direct mail, magazines, radio, television, door hangers, the internet, etc. Due to the advancements in technology, how we advertised has changed, even though the main purpose has not. Businesses still advertise to establish consumer awareness, create need, and/or brand their product, service, or company. What has really changed are the media channels used and how they impact the buying decision.

The explosion of social media and mobile communication has made advertising even more complex. In addition, traditional media such as direct mail, television, radio, etc., have become more interactive. Now businesses can interact with consumers immediately and gauge the response. Integrating a mobile SMS texting system with traditional advertising is a great way to stay engaged with your customers.

Marketing on the other hand is different. It encompasses all the activities that prepare your product or service to be exchanged between the company and the consumer. Marketing is a strategic plan to include advertising, pricing, packaging, market research, identifying your targeted audience, and key metrics, just to name a few. Marketing is part of your company’s overall business function. It operates in conjunction with other business functions.

If you think you can grow a successful business without marketing, you’re only fooling yourself. To get from one city to another, you need at a minimum directions and transportation. It’s the same with your business. A marketing plan will create a measureable road map of your product or service. Utilizing different strategies and tactics, a marketing plan should cover the whole year and be adjusted as necessary.

A.M. Maven starts by looking at your whole company to determine what you really need. Depending on your growth cycle, you may only require one or two of our services. The idea is to not overspend on services you currently don’t need but focus on what you do need to grow your business. Take a look at some of the services on our website and when you are ready give us a call.
